Firefighter were still battling to dampen down a fire on the North York Moors today after being called there yesterday teatime.
The fire broke out on moorland at Great Ayton, near Northallerton, and was reported to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service at about 5pm.
The cause of the blaze is being looked into.
Meanwhile, a caravan site was evacuated and a road closed because of poor visibility after a fire burned cars at a scrapyard in Scarborough.
The blaze, which was eventually contained by four jets, was reported at about 7pm at the Coastal Breakers scrap yard, on the coast road at Burniston, Scarborough.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services said: "Four fire engines attended. Approximately 35 scrap cars were involved. We managed to prevent the fire spreading to a caravan park, which was a concern at one time.
"The road was closed because of the smoke causing poor visibility and the caravan site was evacuated."
He said the cause of the blaze was not yet known, and firefighters were returning to the scene today to make sure it was safe.
