Heworth, coached by Andy Leaming, enjoyed a 93-run win over Osbaldwick in York Junior Cricket Association's BYB Cricket Supplies Under 11 League.

Pocklington got off to a good start with an 18 run win at Woodhouse Grange while Acomb defeated Sheriff Hutton Bridge by 25 runs.

In the PK Accommodation 40 over Under 15 Knockout Cup, Woodhouse Grange had a comfortable first round win at Yapham with John Hopwood cracking 101 not out.

Bowlers Andrew Bilton (3 for 11) and Andrew Cooper (2 for 3) guaranteed an early victory as Yapham were bowled out for 39.

There was also a win for Ovington, who beat Pocklington by three wickets in a tight game in which bowlers were on top.

K Botterill (3 for 6) and A James (2 for 13) got among the wickets for Ovington while C Bullock took 3 for 26 and D Boneham 1 for 14 in five overs for Pocklington.

Heworth beat Selby by four wickets after good early bowling by Heworth had Selby in trouble until mid-order batsmen J Dilks (21) and P Cornfield (25) staged a recovery to set a target of 123.

Heworth, despite a couple of early set backs, had a good third wicket stand between John Eslegood (39) and John Edmondson (29) followed by an unbeaten 20 by N Outram to win with 13 overs to spare.
