Former York City trialist Theo Gunnissen has finally realised his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
The Dutchman, who spent two periods on trial at City last season, has given up his job as a postman and signed a two-year deal with Dutch outfit Emmen.
As reported in the Evening Press, Gunnissen was on holiday in Majorca last summer when he was spotted playing football outside his hotel by Copmanthorpe Football Club secretary Tony McGale.
With Copmanthorpe a feeder club to City, McGale recommended Gunnissen to the Minstermen who then invited the midfielder over for a trial.
Gunnissen scored for City reserves and impressed Terry Dolan but the City manager felt unable to offer the 23-year-old terms at the time.
