A FEW weeks ago a car was towed onto Kingsway North and abandoned. This idiot could have left his vehicle at the scrapyard at the top of Crichton Avenue for no charge.
However, given Kingsway North's unfortunate history, before a recent name change, I suggest that this car has been tactically abandoned in the hope of it being stripped and vandalised for insurance purposes. The insurers will recoup the cost of any claim by raising premiums within the Y030 6 postcode area and the police and council will continue to collect their authority charges and council tax.
Well, surprising as it may be, this car has not been touched so far. The unfortunate residents outside whose property the car is dumped are pensioners worried about the consequences of fire. They have informed the police, the council and tried to make the DVLA aware of the problem. They have been fobbed off.
The situation could be summed up by a notice in the car saying: police incapable, council don't care, DVLA completely ignorant, owner pulling a fast one.
