A BUS service which was scrapped after a spate of vandal attacks has been reinstated in Haxby.
Transport chiefs at First York confirmed the Service 1A to Haxby was once again running as normal.
Operations manager Paul Bell took the decision to axe the evening service last Thursday, after bus windows were smashed four times in a week, including twice in one night as services passed through York Road.
Young thugs were blamed for the attacks, which left a driver traumatised.
Now First York managers attending a meeting, held this morning, have agreed to re-introduce the evening service. But managing director Brian Asquith said the company would be watching the situation closely.
"We have decided to re-introduce the service. After this break, hopefully the situation in Haxby will have settled down," he said.
"If there is any more trouble however, we will have to look at it again. In the meantime, we have taken extra security measures.
"Our new buses have all been fitted with assault screens to protect our drivers. This is something we haven't had before. The new fleet also has radios fitted throughout."
