POCKLINGTON went down 39-16 at home in Yorkshire One to a Yarnbury side that was more clinical in its finishing.

Pocklington conceded a soft early try and saw Yarnbury add a penalty before they opened their account with a Kevin Bowling penalty.

But Yarnbury's extra pace out wide saw them pull away with two converted tries midway through the first half.

Pocklington finished the half the stronger and Mark Taylor made a strong diagonal run from full-back to cross out on the left, and, as they were twice stopped on the line when they looked certain to score just before the break, they had hopes of getting back on terms with the wind in the second period.

Bowling gave them an early boost with another penalty before they were hit with a double whammy as Yarnbury stole over for a try then moved out of sight with an 80-yard interception from a Pocklington attack. Pock kept plugging away and scored a consolation try when centre Rob Nolan found an angle on the right to burst 20 yards down the touchline and cross in the corner.

Yarnbury's try scorers were Billy Thompson (2), Andy Marshall (2) and Steve Galbraith, who kicked the rest of the points.
