NEW Earswick All Blacks were made to pay for a poor first 15 minutes as they lost 32-12 to Bentley Good Compa-nions in Yorkshire League senior and division one.
They conceded four early tries to trail 22-0 and although they fought back well, led by captain Jez Petch, it wasn't enough.
On 28 minutes Carl Barrow laid the ball off to Carl Pallister, who put Shaun Bewlay over in the corner. Three minutes later player-coach Simon Bayne saw a try disallowed for dropping the ball in the tackle, but five minutes later Petch did reduce the deficit by touching down near the sticks, although Pallister missed the goal.
Two minutes after the break, Petch scored a second try to make it 22-12 but the turning point in the game then saw Nick Massingham shrug off three players to touch down near the corner only for the referee to rule it was a double movement.
From the penalty, Good Companions went the length of the field to touch down, also adding a try late on to round off the scoring.
