A MAN appeared before York magistrates today charged with two robberies at bookmakers in the city.
Clifford Daniel McDermid, aged 24, of no fixed abode, is charged with robbing Stephen Halliday of £600 and Anthony Taylor of £300 on Thursday.
He also faces charges of stealing a car on October 24 in Harrogate, and assaulting Mark Waddington, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified and without insurance in Harrogate on Friday.
McDermid will next appear for a preliminary hearing at York Crown Court on November 5. He was remanded in custody.
The robberies are alleged to have taken place at Jorvik Racing in Bright Street, and at South Bank Racing in Albermarle Road.
