A PHYSICALLY handicapped woman was bringing a claim for damages in the High Court in Leeds today after receiving injuries caused by medical negligence in the old Fulford Maternity Hospital.
Donna Owen, of Walker Drive, Foxwood, York, was born 23 years ago in the Fulford Maternity Hospital, where the McArthurGlen outlet now stands.
Her solicitor, Jane Radcliffe, said North Yorkshire Health Authority had admitted negligence and accepted that Donna's condition has been caused as a direct result of this.
Donna suffers severe physical handicap as a result of cerebral palsy.
The court will assess the level of damages required to provide Donna with the specialist equipment and nursing support she requires.
The hearing was expected to last for four days.
