KEVIN Darley, hero of a 160-1 treble at Doncaster on Saturday, may have reduced Kieren Fallon's lead in the jockeys' championship to 11 winners, but honours are likely to be shared at Redcar tomorrow.

The two riders will be going head-to-head throughout the afternoon and both can boast fancied mounts at the seaside course.

Darley has good prospects aboard Double Blade in the Sports Daily Claiming Stakes.

Mary Reveley's gelding is not the easiest of horses to win with, but he is lowered in class here and, consequently, deserves every respect.

Darley has another useful mount in Eastern Image, a winner at Pontefract last month, in the Sislink Novice Stakes.

Despite having to concede weight to his rivals, Eastern Image has excellent prospects of gaining another victory.

Fallon, seeking his fourth title - and odds-on to achieve it when the season draws to a close on Saturday week - will also be climbing aboard some fancied contenders, including First Maite in the SIS Handicap.

Trained by Roy Bowring, First Maite is a renowned mudlark, who will have conditions very much in his favour.

It is also a plus that he will be reverting to seven furlongs after finding the step-up to nine furlongs a touch too far on his latest outing on this course when he finished third to Wilfraam.

A horse who loves to bowl along in the lead, First Maite will take plenty of catching.

In the six furlongs Racing Channel Nursery, Cargo has strong claims in the hands of Dale Gibson.

Trained at Sheriff Hutton by Mick Easterby - on the mark with 12-1 shot Gudlage at Aintree yesterday - Cargo finished a highly-respectable fourth to Marshman in a similar contest to this at York earlier in the month.

He would not need to improve much to figure even more prominently this time and is napped to come out on top.

Mary Reveley, who has such a good record on this, her local track, can complete a double in the SIS Classified Stakes with Konker.

The six-year-old is in the form of his life at present having, won his last two races, and looks poised to complete a hat-trick in the hands of Fergal Lynch.

The day's most valuable race is staged over jumps at Cheltenham in the shape of the £13,000 cheltenham.co.uk Handicap Hurdle.

Preference here is for Brother Joe, who ran a blinder to finish in the money on the flat in the Tote-Ebor Handicap at York in August.

This classy and versatile campaigner can hit the target as he returns to the jumping game.

Also worth supporting at Cheltenham are the exciting St Pirran (2.05) and North Yorkshire challenger Wemyss Quest (4.25), who bids for a hat-trick of wins on behalf of Middleham trainer Ferdy Murphy.
