AN East Yorkshire man who was killed in a head-on crash has been named by police.

David Strangeway, aged 38, of The Oval, Pocklington, was killed on Friday when the Peugeot 205 he was driving was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Cavalier on the A1079 at Market Weighton.

Police said it appeared the Cavalier had been heading from Shiptonthorpe towards Beverley and had pulled out to overtake a goods vehicle when the collision occurred with the Peugeot, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Cavalier, who police have not named, was taken to hospital with a fractured wrist and a leg injury.

A number of witnesses have already spoken to the police, but officers would still like anyone who witnessed the crash to call them on 01405 721013.

Meanwhile a driver who died in hospital after his car left a North Yorkshire road and hit a wall has been named.

Lee Brown, 25, from Barnoldswick, Lancashire, suffered serious head injuries and had to be cut free from the wrecked BMW by firefighters after the crash on Roecliffe Lane, Boroughbridge, in the early hours of Sunday. An inquest is expected to be open and adjourned today.
