BAY Horse bolted into the York White Rose Ladies League winter season with a bang against Red Lion but failed to stay the distance.

The Murton side took the team and both pair games but Lion clawed back in the singles with Emma Swallow, Vanessa Lewington and Robbie Leaf, before Linda Swallow took the decider.

Diane Moreland included scores of 160 and 140 for a 20-darter to give Phoenix 'A' a good start against their 'B' team.

Angie Hields responded with 25, which included two tons and it was all-square going into the pairs.

Moreland played a captain's role by checking in with 89 while Liz Speck, Jane Wright and Chris Hall put the match beyond the 'B' team whose Hields (140, 140) and Sue Smith produced a fine 23-dart pairs win.

Carole Layne hit three tons for Brigadier but Carol Brayshaw put Dringhouses in front in their match.

Brigadier romped away with all the pairs for a 6-3 victory.

Sandra Fairclough edged Clifton to a 4-2 lead against Nags, which was then turned into a victory by Jean West and Kay Snowden.

Betty Pinder was a maximum scorer for Britannia 'B' who took Half Moon to the wire, whose Betty Jameson and Karen Braithwaite snatched the decider.

Burton WMC had the match sewn up when Julie Bruce put them 5-1 up against Brown Cow, but that did not stop their opponents coming back to make it 5-4.
