Acomb'S hopes of contining the fine run of form that had seen them unbeaten in Yorkshire League division two ended in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Boston Spa.

Acomb struggled to pass the ball, created few chances and fell behind.

Jamie Robinson pulled Acomb level but Boston Spa regained the lead with a short corner strike and added a third in the second half.

Stuart Baxter and Nick Good worked hard in defence for Acomb, but the midfield and forwards were disappointing.

Acomb II maintained their unbeaten start with a 3-1 victory at Halifax to consolidate their leadership of division ten.

York University won 3-0 at Tadcaster in division five.

They never looked back after scoring from a free hit after two minutes and were 2-0 up at the interval.

Only heroics from Tadcaster's N Lunn and net minder S Watson prevented the students from scoring more goals.

In division eight, Tadcaster II were beaten 4-1 by Slazenger IV with only brave goalkeeping by Davy Sutton keeping the score down.

Tadcaster's man of the match, Dave Monk, scored his side's consolation goal.
