WITH some justification it used to be said that ten years of preliminaries on projects at Tadcaster was regarded as moderately quick work.
Well, just think how the long-awaited by-pass and the even longer-awaited swimming pool took more than 80 years.
Two prime examples of the measure of our tolerance and forbearance in this brewery town.
So I was shocked to read your report 'Town to get own council drop-in centre' (October 23), because the relevant planning application notice was published as recently as October 19. It had me worried!
This speedy action by Selby District Council will surely silence our erstwhile critics once and for all. Especially so because the centre's staff are hoping to be in place as early as the New Year.
We shall see.
