YORK RUFC's Under 18 Colts' side beat Sandal 17-10 to stretch their 100 per cent record to six matches.

Sandal took the lead with a penalty but York responded when centre Jackson broke through the defence and set up Adam Lee who burst over the line.

Minutes before half time Sandal managed to score a breakaway try by intercepting a missed move in the York backs.

York took a while to get going in the second half, but an inspired York scrummage with Perrin, Farrow and James Carruthers soon wore down a resilient Sandal pack.

York's momentum and desire to win were to become apparent in a pulsating closing 20 minutes.

They came close when Bullivant was hauled down metres from the line.

However, York were not to be denied. A strike against the head by Perrin led to another powerful surge from Lee who fed Ben Kenyon to romp over to score. Atkinson sent over the conversion.

York sealed their well-earned victory when Lee scored a classic number 8 score from the base of a wheeled scrum.

York RI Under 15s meanwhile won 17-3 at Yarnbury on a boggy pitch.

Yarnbury kicked for position to enable their bigger forwards to pound the RI line but after ten minutes their only reward was a penalty.

RI's lighter pack stepped up their mauling and rucking game and went close on several occasions before Tom Heslop went over for a try to which Tom Dunmore added the conversion.

RI went further ahead when Josh Binns and Heslop caught the home stand-off in possession for the latter to touch down for the try.

The visitors had to withstand a battering from the home forwards with Daniel Hunt and Josh Binns making fine tackles.

Neat inter-passing by the forwards gained RI a foothold in the Yarnbury half from which Binns and Heslop combined well before Heslop broke through tackles and strolled over the line to complete his deserved hat-trick.
