It is regrettable that in these times, it is often the case, that success in business is achieved by using 'clever' and unorthodox methods.

The nice business man does not come out on top in today's tough environment, so it goes without saying that the formation of Bootham Crescent Holdings as a separate company from the football club was indeed a 'clever' decision for the Directors.

With a decision like that you can't lose. The income comes in from your tenant (York City FC) but, if he falls on hard times, kick him out and get another tenant. You may show some public sympathy and support him for a while, but in the end he has to go.

If no other tenant can be found, sell the 'building,' because, as is the case with a number of businesses, the property is extremely valuable and worth much more than the small amount of rent coming in each month.

In most tenant businesses only a few people suffer, but in the case of my beloved football club, who I have supported for since 1953, it will be the destruction of City's history along with many memories and future hopes for thousands of people.

I personally want no part of a scheme that has any agreement in place to pay the current board of directors a regular rent for the use of the ground and facilities, because they made that 'clever' decision 'for the good of the club' back in 1999.

We got our manager via Hull City. We don't want the same business practices imported from them, featuring fans and players locked out of the ground.

I urge everyone who attends the meeting on January 7 concerning a possible Supporters Trust, to be very, very careful. Bear in mind that the current board of directors have nothing to lose but everything to gain in the financial sense.
