CHANCELLOR Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah have suffered the most devastating blow imaginable with the loss of their daughter.
Older readers haved lived through a time when the death of a child during pregnancy or soon after birth was sadly not uncommon. We have become so accustomed to modern medical miracles that we expected little Jennifer to survive, despite her being born seven weeks prematurely and weighing only 2lb 4oz. Tragically, it was not to be.
Our thoughts are with Mr and Mrs Brown today.
