Middleham trainer Ferdy Murphy has a great chance of pulling off a cross-country double in tomorrow's two big races.

Streamstown represents him in the £100,000 De Vere Gold Cup Chase at Haydock, while at Kempton, stablemates Luzcadou and Occold are Murphy's runners in the £90,000 Racing Post Chase.

Streamstown has a wonderful chance under Murphy's stable-jockey Adrian Maguire.

The eight-year-old, at his best on heavy ground over a long distance, won the hotly-contested Singer & Friedlander Chase at Uttoxeter three weeks ago.

He has been raised 8lb by the handicapper since, but still looks well enough weighted to make a bold bid.

Luzcadou and Occold give Murphy with a double opportunity at Kempton, and I have a slight preference for the former.

Narrowly denied by A Piece Of Cake at Newcastle last Saturday, Luzcadou looks to be coming to form at just the right time.

Occold, though, also has a strong chance, having got on the scoresheet at Towcester last month.

Back at Haydock, Keen Leader can confirm his place at the Cheltenham Festival by winning the De Vere Prestige Novices' Hurdle.

Jonjo O'Neill's charge is unbeaten in three races this season and revels on testing ground, which he'll get tomorrow. Liam Cooper, who is riding with such confidence this season, takes the mount on my Nap selection.

There will be a precautionary inspection at Haydock at 7.30am tomorrow to decide if racing can go ahead. The ground is already very heavy and more rain is forecast.

"If we get a lot more rain we're stuffed," said clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright.

Tomorrow's tips:

Haydock:

1.10 Keen Leader (Nap), 1.40 A Piece Of Cake, 2.10 Streamstown, 2.40 Haditovski, 3.10 Errand Boy, 3.40 Westernmost, 4.15 The Pennys Dropped.
