THERE was a match-winning performance by IT Sports pair Mark Hopwood and Stuart Fieldhouse in men's division one of York Badminton League.

They totalled 99-69 in three wins as IT Sports won 5-4 at Riverside.

Hopwood and Fieldhouse clinched the match when they beat John Fowler and Chris Swift nine and fifth in the eighth rubber.

Three wins by Russell Binns and Mike Jones swung the match as University Students 'A' beat IT Sports 5-4 at the campus sports centre.

Ian Shore and Kevin Dawson led the way for Clifton 'A' in a 7-2 win at Selby 77 in men's division two.

Shore and Davison scored three wins but were given a good workout by Rex Pocklington and Rob Overall before winning 11-15 15-9 15-11.

York RI suffered a rare defeat in mixed division one when they lost 6-3 at Drax 'A' in a match where no pairing dominated enough to win three rubbers.

Phil Brunyard and Julie Smyth scored Drax's vital win, beating Andrew Denton and Joyce Petch 15-8 10-15 15-2.

Nick Burton and Caroline Grubb totalled 90-31 in three wins as

University Students 'B' played to form and won 7-2 at Millthorpe in mixed division two.

Sheriff Hutton, fielding only two pairings, were beaten 7-2 at home by Knavesmire 'A'.

Jo Wade and Dave Grieve scored both Sheriff Hutton's wins but lost nine and ten to Dave Brogden and Joy Wilson.

Linda and Robert Dallinson totalled 90-46 in three straight wins as Easingwold kept up their good home form with a 9-0 win over Drax 'B' in mixed division three. Janet Craft and Andrew Dunning played well for Drax without success.

In mixed division four, St John's triumphed 7-2 against Drax 'D'. A Boyes and D McKechnie scored both the Drax team's wins but lost 15-11 12-15 7-15 to Lindsay Spicer and Rob Metcalf, who scored three wins for the student teachers.

Simon Fletcher and Sally Locker totalled 94-60 in three straight wins as York University Staff Club 'A' won 9-0 at Tadcaster 86.

Garry Turner and Sue Scott totalled 92-63 in three wins as York University Staff Club 'B' won 5-4 away to Drax 'E' in mixed division five.

Paul Scott and Shirley Foster took the winning rubber when they beat N Machitt and Richard Summers ten and three.

But York University Staff Club 'B' lost their next match, 6-3 at Huntington 'B'.

John Deighton and Carolyn Arden totalled 101-53 in three wins for Huntington including beating Garry Turner and Sue Scott 11-15 15-6 15-9.

In mixed division six Karen Shooter and Franni Milovejevic totalled 92-25 in three wins as Selby Jubilee 'B' won 9-0 away to Pocklington 'C'.
