CHILDREN as young as 12 were found with alcohol when police swooped on a group of under-age drinkers in a York village.
Officers challenged about 20 young people who were drinking on Strensall Common.
A 16-year-old youth was arrested at the scene for being drunk and disorderly. He was later given a warning and released.
Sergeant Bob Chambers said: "This follows a number of complaints from local residents.
We have had complaints from parents that their kids had alcohol supplied to them by older children. Two of the children were aged 12.
The drinkers were caught at about 8.45pm on Friday.
