SHERIFF Hutton won a low-scoring division four affair at Acomb II by three wickets.

The home side crawled to 88 for 9 off their 45 overs as P Evans captured 6 for 35 in 22 overs and only opener John Webster reached double figures.

He saw his side lose eight wickets for 61 before he found some support from the ageless Bill Carter who helped add 25 for the ninth wicket until Webster hit a return catch to Evans and fell for 58.

Sheriff's reply started badly with a run out before a run had been scored and they slipped to 68 for 6. Eddie Hull, with 26, took his side to the brink of victory before he was seventh out at 87 leaving skipper Richard Armitage to make the winning run. John Renshaw took 3 for 36 for the losers.

Dringhouses were crushed by nine wickets against Easingwold.

Dringy were pegged to 132 for 8 as Alan Robinson took 4 for 29 although Richard Klarik top scored with 41.

Easingwold lost a wicket before scoring a run but this was to be the York side's only success as Gary Sanders (84no) and Trevor Smith (46no) embarked on a match-winning unbroken stand of 133.

Huntington conceded ground advantage to Bolton Percy and it was the hosts who enjoyed the better of their draw.

Bolton's batsmen were in fine form as Ali Rigby led the way with an unbeaten 84, sharing a good partnership with Peter Houseman (40no). With Chril Hill also hitting 40, Bolton opted for a declaration after reaching 210 for 3 in 41 overs.

Huntington stalwarts Len Watson (27) and Wally Baynes (42) figured in the reply as did Steve Beales with 28 but the target was beyond their capabilities and a draw was gained at 138 for 7.

Gary Andrew (68no) and Dudley Cooper (43no) saw Dunnington sail past Osbaldwick's 123 for 9 to record a seven-wicket victory. Matt Dunne claimed all three Dunnington wickets for 29.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge junior Richard Coverdale took 4 for 38 as Pickering made 127 for 7 but then saw his batsmen fail lamentably as they were bowled out for only 41 by Tony Evans (6 for 16) and Andrew Grayson (3 for 13).

With rugby still being played on their Sandhill Lane ground, Selby travelled to Huby where they suffered an 86-run defeat.

Colin Piercy made 33 and Chris Cundall 34 in a Huby score of 169 for 8 as Kevin Lund took 3 for 32.

Cundall then produced a decisive spell of bowling as he claimed 5 for 13. Dan Grainger aided with 3 for 28 as Selby were put out for 83. South African Darnie Oosthuizen made 29 for the losers.
