THE Evening Press has become an official time beacon for future generations.
A copy of the newspaper formed part of a time capsule buried on the site of a new £500,000 two-storey extension, being built for Beacon at its headquarters in Amy Johnson Way, Clifton Moor.
Beacon, which is the purchasing division of Best Western Hotels, has more than 2,300 independent members.
The time capsule, which also included a selection of brochures, newsletters and photographs reflecting the organisation in 2002, was buried in the foundations of the new extension, which should be ready by October.
The "time lords" for the day were Mike Hawes, purchasing support adviser, Emma Warrington, assistant purchasing executive and director Karen Packham.
