WITH only a year's darts experience, Simon Jackson has won the Marston Moor Villages Doubles-Board League individual championship.

The 24-year-old Alice Hawthorn, Nun Monkton, player prevented an all-Oak final when taking out Peter Scaum 2-0 after Andy Hill had booked his tilt at the title by beating Pavillion's James Allan 2-0.

In the best of five showdowns, Hill and Jackson shared the first two but Jackson found a ton for a 21 darter and then a further 100 score shook Hill as Jackson triumped on his first attempt for the title.

Two more young players took on seasoned Stuart Simpson and Lee Appleyard (Oak) in the pairs competition, but James Allan and Malc Davey (100) lost 2-1.

Collingwood's Nick Brown and Steve Wragg (100) reached the final with a 2-1 victory over Tankard's Ian Powell and Nigel Shepherdson and went on to win the trophy in an exciting 3-1 tussle.

Appleyard hit two tons, 120, but deadly finishing by both Brown and Wragg (three tons) was the deciding factor.

Wragg outshot Andy Carter (Oak) in a Three Fastest Finishes competition play-off after both had aggregated 66.

Oak were the league champions, KO Cup and Six-a-side competition winners.Kevin Lund had only one defeat in 22 matches.

Tankard 'A' team's John Collins collected the Captains Cup and the three highest checkouts prize.

On Thursday, Oak play a Rest of the League team at Lord Collingwood.

Slipper lead York Phoenix Darts League after a 5-2 victory at home to Lord Nelson.

Slipper's Paul Partridge gamed in 19 and was well supported by Trevor Platt's 21 darts. John Spence was Lord Nelson's best player.

Maximum scores were a feature of Shepherd SC's win at Cygnet.

Paul Botterill (18) hit two 180s and Mick Willsden hit one in a terrific 13-darter and also Mark Jones hit a maximum.

Chas Ramsden shot 16 darts to crown a splendid performance. Stuart Shaw was Cygnet's best player.

Mike Harris (15) hit two maximums for Acomb SC against Phoenix and was well supported by Rob Henman, who closed on bull, and Mick Ward (21 darts). Phil Chapman scored well for Phoenix.

Bishopthorpe demolished Red Lion 7-0 with Arthur Conyers (18) and Tony Raymond (19) in outstanding form. Henry Haystead hit the tons for Lion.

Despite a 180 for 20 darts from John Smith, Tap lost their way and went down 4-3 to Crown, whose Martin Pears hit a 93 finish.

Jane Wright shot out with shanghai on the 20s to win the opener for Phoenix 'A' in York John Smith's Ladies League division one.

Cygnet's Daphne Green then Maggie Druett responded, but Wright's sister Clair Cooper (100,100) and Sandra Winters edged ahead.

Cygnet's captain Dawn Exton levelled and then partnered Marie Caravana to a 4-3 scoreline before Wright-Cooper set up a decider which saw Green combine with Lynn Thompson to secure Cygnet the match.

Dawn Gore and Louise Hart gave Clifton a surprise 2-0 lead against Brigadier, but Michelle Britton produced a superb 125,140 for 18 darts. Sarah Jackson made it 3-1 to Clifton before Julie Coyle sparked Brigadier to victory.

Claire Robinson was Slip's singles star and then she paired with Pat Cairns to set up a decider against Phoenix 'B'. Tracey Farmeary, who had earlier included 100,100,121 for 22, partnered Jane Janes to get Phoenix the win.

Maggie Tottie hit the tons for Ox and the final pair, Sandra Bruce-Karen Alton, tipped the scales at Dringhouses.

Jeanette Craven put Vaults 4-3 up, but Half Moon's Paula Birkitt-Betty Jameson levelled and Claire Knaggs-Dorothy Bruce sealed the win.

Leeman 'B' shot to the top of division two but were denied a clean sweep by Clifton 'B' team's Julie Maycock.

Burton Lane WMC raced to 5-0 ahead against Shepherd 'B', whose Pauline Dale halted the run and then partnered Sue Lacy to gain their second point.

Linda Davies partnered Deanna Joy to clinch the decider for Severus after Glynnis Simpson and Sheila Elliott had squared their match at Shepherd 'A'.

Liz Richford (100,125) and Jo Hodges (120,125) spurred Clifton 'A' to an excellent win against Jubilee, whose Maxine Midgley prevented the whitewash.

Maggie Jenkinson included a maximum to set Britannia 'A' off on a good run which was only broken by Slipper's Mavis Barker. Julie Brownlee hit a maximum as Mount cantered to a 6-3 win at Woolpack.

Mary Dodsworth played well for Leeman 'C', but Joan Knowles guided Puss 'B' to 6-3. Puss 'A' cleaned up the pairs to beat Leeman 'A'.

Terri Corney and Fran Holmes got Ackhorne off to a flier, but Holgate took the next six with good scoring by Lin Gould and Carol Price included.

Debbie Stubbs and Joan Hunter gave Cue Ball a good break off at Tang Hall WMC. Margaret Price and Audrey Carling strengthened their position after Sue Skinner and Mavis Rawcliffe had levelled.

Skinner partnered Sue Wentworth to take the match into a decider, which saw Hunter partner Barbara Johnson to victory.

Former world champion John Walton was beaten twice in an entertaining exhibition night at Acorn Social Club.

He was beaten 2-1 fair and square by Paul Cooper and also 2-1 by Michelle Britton, Walton scoring only on bulls or the outer.
