FORMER Watford and AC Milan striker Luther Blissett was in talks with York City today.

But City chairman John Batchelor has moved quickly to kill off suggestions that Blissett is to replace Terry Dolan as the boss of the Minstermen.

Batchelor told the Evening Press: "Luther will be coming up today to discuss a few things and spending the day with me.

"Any rumours of him or anyone else replacing Terry are simply that, just rumours - and I'd like to stop them now.

"I've no plans to change things as Terry has done an exceptional job since I've taken over. He has performed almost faultlessly and will be in charge for next season."

Any City role taken on by Blissett would more likely be tied in with his and Batchelor's mutual interest of motor racing.

Blissett was capped 14 times by England and made more than 400 appearances during three spells, but has since moved away from football to concentrate on motor racing.

Batchelor is more interested in involving Blissett in his Team B&Q Jet York City Racing outfit in the British Touring Car Championship.

Although whether that would be as a driver or in a promotional role, it is unclear.

"Luther has business interests not unrelated to me," added Batchelor. "He has a business that teaches young Premier League footballers to drive fast cars. Apparently that has come from his days in Italy where he saw young players involved in crashes after buying sports cars.

"But there are a variety of concerns that we will be looking at."

Batchelor is also set to meet with Darren Edmondson, Stephen Brackstone, Peter Duffield and Russ Howarth this week to discuss contracts.

Highly-rated net-minder Howarth will enter the talks knowing he has missed out on a trip to the prestigious Toulon International Tournament after England Under-20s coach Martin Hunter opted to take Rhys Evans (Chelsea) and Stephen Bywater (West Ham) in the 20-strong squad.

While the City four prepare to hammer out new deals, former City loanee Mark Bower has put pen to paper at Valley Parade.

Meanwhile, City's Supporters' Trust is appealing to its members to join the fight to help save Lincoln City.

A petition by Lincoln to go into administration was adjourned yesterday until Friday.

However, the Lincoln City Supporters' Trust have launched a 'Name Your Seat' initiative to attempt raise funds for the club.

A minimum donation of £10 will see supporters sponsor a seat at the club's Sincil Bank ground.

City fans can pledge there support by purchasing a seat in the Stacey West away stand either on-line at www.redimps.com or by phone on (01522) 880011.
