York City fans are to get the chance to air their views and elect a new Supporters' Trust board next month.

The York City Supporters' Trust annual general meeting will be held at York's Grand Opera House on Monday, June 10 (7pm).

It is a closed meeting - only those who were Trust members before April 2 this year can attend - with City chairman John Batchelor and manager Terry Dolan having also been invited to take part in the forum.

The Trust has a membership of just over 1,300.

A ballot will be required to determine the 11 members who will form the new board of the Trust.

Spokesperson Robert Havercroft said: "A total of 25 candidates are standing for election to the board. Ballot papers will be sent out to members next week and the result will be announced at June's annual general meeting."

The candidates standing for election are:

Meanwhile, York-based Ian Yeowart has stepped down from the board at Chesterfield.

He became chairman when the Spireites were saved by the Chesterfield Football Society and addressed the first public meeting of City fans who backed the bid to launch a City Trust.

A new board of directors at Saltergate has agreed to invest a six-figure loan in order to take over the running of Chesterfield until the start of 2004-05.

Former City player Scott Jordan is one of seven Scarborough players who have agreed new contracts with manager Russell Slade.

With Slade set to finalise details of his own new deal today most of the squad that he led to Nationwide Conference safety are ready to follow suit.

Those that have already signed are defenders Mark Hotte, Steve Baker and Paul Shepherd, with Shaun Rennison poised to join them.

Former City midfielder Scott Jordan and Gareth Stoker have agreed terms, while strikers Karl Rose and Darren Connell have also signed up.

Still to commit themselves are leading scorer Darry Stamp and goalkeeper Andy Woods, although they have been offered terms, along with the former Oldham Athletic pair of Phil Salt and Ryan Sugden.

Richard Tracey and Andy Wright will return for pre-season training on month-to-month contracts, while young full-back Danny Brunton, who has just recovered from a broken leg, is thinking over similar terms. Youngsters David Henderson and Martin O'Riordan have been offered professional contracts.

Slade has rewarded the players who dragged Scarborough out of relegation danger and produced promotion-winning form in the second half of the season.

And he is delighted to have the makings of a side he believes is capable of competing at the top end of the table.

He said: "Even now you're looking at the nucleus of the squad and I will be looking to bring in three or four more.

"I can't stand still, I have to push on. I'm already setting targets and we've got to be looking to be in that top five.

"We've got to have that ambition or it's not worth me staying. The chairman has that ambition and he knows I need that."
