CUP specialists Hounds lifted the York FA Sunday Senior Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Acomb WMC at York RI's New Lane ground.

Acomb came closest to scoring first when James Hewitson broke through and forced Hounds' goalkeeper Simon Acaster into a full length save.

But it was Hounds who took the lead after 15 minutes when a cross from the left found Gareth Rhodes unmarked on the right and his shot went in via the inside of the far post.

Neil Rankeillor went close for Acomb after a tremendous through ball from Hewitson.

But Craig Pickles was causing havoc with his runs at the Acomb defence and just before half-time Hounds increased their lead when Richard Gladwell scored from the penalty spot following a needless handball.

With two minutes of the re-start the game was virtually over when a Gladwell corner was headed home unopposed by defender Shane Forrest.

Hounds were now in complete control with Forrest and Graham Mitchell outstanding in defence. With 12 minutes remaining Forrest completed the scoring, heading his second following a short corner routine.

The Yorkshire Herald Cup was presented by Roy Ellwood, York FA vice-president.
