A JURY deliberating on the death of former soldier Kirk Davies had yet to reach a verdict when proceedings were adjourned this afternoon.

West Yorkshire Coroner David Hinchliffe sent the five men and five women out to consider their verdicts at 1pm today.

He gave them instructions that they could only legally return a verdict of lawful killing, but they had still not concluded their deliberations when the court rose at 4pm.

Davies, 30, of Burn, near Selby, was shot dead by a police marksman at Newton Lodge Psychiatric Hospital in Wakefield.

He had threatened hospital staff and police officers with an air rifle.
