COMPETITION was keen at the Ryedale Area Young Farmers' Clubs rally held at Sinnington Lodge Farm, Sinnington, at the weekend.
More than one members of YFC clubs from Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Snainton, Amotherby and Rillington took part in a wide range of activities, said Robert Arrand of Helmsley YFC.
Members showed their skills at handling Land Rovers, tractors, ATVs, stock judging and cooking. There were also various competitions focusing on health and safety issues, first aid, as well as time trials, chicken and rabbit judging and flower arranging, said Mr Arrand. "One of the highlights was a competition to smash a pallet and get it through a toilet seat!"
The overall winner of the rally was Kirkbymoorside YFC. "It was a great success and well supported," said Mr Arrand. The rally was followed by a dance held in a barn at the farm.
