YORK CITY manager Terry Dolan today offered a contract to experienced left back Tom Cowan, who has just been released by Cambridge United.
Dolan knows the 33-year-old well, having worked with him when at Huddersfield.
The rugged Scot began with Clyde before joining Glasgow giants Rangers for whom he figured in a dozen Scottish League games in three seasons before joining Sheffield United in 19991. After three seasons at Bramall Lane he had a year at Stoke before going to Huddersfield.
He has some unhappy memories of Bootham Crescent, being sent off in his Huddersfield days in a 3-0 City victory in November 1994 after a foul of Paul Barnes.
He's been at Cambridge since switching from Burnley in 2000 and lost his place in the team when John Beck and then John Taylor took over as manager during last season.
