MONKEYS seem to be everywhere. First, there was the monkey hired to unsuccessfully promote the ill-fated ITV Digital. And now a monkey has gone and been elected mayor of Hartlepool.
It would be tempting to say that H'Angus The Monkey had made the local elections look foolish. However, Stuart Drummond, the man inside the monkey costume, is deadly earnest about his suitability for the job. Perhaps this is all to the good. Monkeys tend to be paid in peanuts, while Mr Drummond will earn £53,000 a year. And you don't want a monkey for that sort of money.
