SAVILLE AVFC clinched their second trophy of the season and stayed on course for a unique quartet by winning the York Sunday Afternoon League Cup.

After sealing the division two title last week, the Terrington club played the first of three finals in three weeks and caused an upset when beating Fossway 5-1 at the Civil Service ground.

Both teams had early chances before Saville took a 25th-minute lead through Mark Taylor.

Saville increased their lead two minutes into the second half through Darren Haywood, who got his second ten minutes later. Simon Collins finally got on the scoresheet flipping the ball over the 'keeper to make it 4-0.

Fossway created chances and notched a consolation with an own goal.

Collins, who is the league's leading marksman completed the scoring when he headed home after a free-kick hit the crossbar.

The win was the first cup success in 20 years for Martyn Wright, who lifted the trophy.

Saville's next match is the York Sunday Afternoon League FA Cup final against first division Drax United on Sunday at New Earswick, kick-off 2pm.
