A YORK-based firm of solicitors has come to the rescue of a local youth choir, offering "bags" of support for their trip to the Manchester Military Tattoo in June.
Staff at Ware & Kay saw the fundraising appeal by Selby's Sing Youth Choir in the Evening Press and decided to provide a bag for every member of the choir to carry their uniform and personal belongings to the prestigious event, which takes place on June 7 and 8 at the Manchester Evening News Arena.
Managing partner of Ware & Kay, Jonathan Leech, said: "When the current media spotlight is on tearaway teens, it is fantastic that a local group of young people are representing not only North Yorkshire, but also their generation at this major event. We are proud to be associated with the choir."
The choir will travel to Manchester on Friday, June 7, for an evening performance, followed by a matinee and evening performance on Saturday, June 8. Organisers are confident of pulling crowds from all over the North of England, and hope to fill as many of the seats as possible in the 17,000-place stadium.
"An opportunity like this comes around so rarely that we jumped on the chance to perform in the Tattoo," said Sing's musical director, Andrea Commins.
