UNSUNG heroes who serve their communities are being offered the chance to win a new Queen's Golden Jubilee Award to mark their achievements.
A total of 200 awards will be made annually to voluntary and community
groups which work to make their neighbourhoods a better place to live. They will receive a plaque and a certificate, under the first government scheme designed to reward groups rather than individuals. The new awards were announced by the Queen during her historic address to both Houses of Parliament to mark her Golden Jubilee. Groups must be nominated by an independent person, who must provide detailed background information and endorsement from two supporters.
The closing date for nominations for this year's awards is September 30.
