A PARTY atmosphere and a crowd of 1,109 greeted UniBond League division one cham-pions Harrogate Town at their last game of the season at home to Workington last night.
Goals on 28 and 90 minutes saw the Cumbrians win 2-0 - only the second team to win away to Town this term - but the hosts had already secured a league and County Cup double.
They were presented with their trophies by Emmerdale's 'Zak Dingle' before embarking on a lap of honour, while the final whistle was greeted by a fireworks display.
Selby Town ended their Northern Counties East League premier division season in style with a 3-0 win at bottom club Garforth Town.
Garforth missed a 17th-minute penalty as Craig Code turned Bevan's shot on to the post. At the other end, Kristian Baxter was a constant threat and he scored on 25 minutes and then just before half-time with a stunning 25-yard volley.
Nigel Croad sealed the game on the hour, the result securing Selby seventh place in the table.
Harrogate Railway put up a good show against champions Alfreton Town before losing 2-1. Railway, for whom Metcalfe scored, had already been guaranteed fifth place.
Pickering Town ended their season with a 1-1 stalemate at Buxton. The result means Hallam could yet leapfrog the Pikes into third place. Goole drew 2-2 at home to Glapwell. In division one, Tadcaster Albion lost 3-1 to Worsbrough Bridge to end the season fourth bottom.
