I am a keen walker and since the North York Moors National Park was set up, I have been grateful for the work done to make it accessible: maintaining paths and gates, putting in steps and stiles where necessary.
In the past few years, however, I have begun to wonder if the stiles have been created by giants. Would it not be possible now and then for the stile builders to take a woman, preferably an elderly one, with them to try out the size of the steps of their stile?
