Sessay recovered from an horrific start to get the better of a close draw at Whitkirk to move second in division one.

They lost their first three wickets for only six runs but found a saviour in Chris Till, whose 66 not out helped his side reach 147-7.

Matt O'Brien was the most successful home bowler with 3-23 but his efforts were trumped by Aussie Steve Frare, who took 6-46 for the visitors.

Skipper Craig Shipton hit a fine 68 for Whitkirk but lacked support and saw his hopes of victory fall short at 141-8.

Crayke moved third after gaining a thrilling victory at York II in a game which saw the hosts bowled out for 194 after Crayke had made 196-8.

One time York player Jonathon Wright (61) maintained his good form for Crayke, while other runs came from Graeme Dawson (38), Paul Hutchinson (25) and Mike Hutchinson (34). Ed Sennick took 3-44 for the hosts.

York's new signing, Nick Gregory, then showed his value with a debut 53, while Andrew Kay (27) and Kent Stone (31) kept their side in the hunt.

But Mike Hutchinson took 4-90 and, with former Stillington skipper Dave Allitt supporting with 3-61, the hosts fell to an agonising two-run defeat.

There was another thrilling finish at Hull Zingari where visiting Duncombe Park pulled off their first win of the season with just three balls to spare.

Hull made a good 185-7, with Alistair Markham hitting 83 and Matt Wilkinson 46. Park's successful reply came through Richard Simpson (42), Paul Wilkie (32) and Mark Mulvihill (32).

Andy Hanson (3-42) and Mark Beddis (3-69) made strenuous efforts to defend the Zingari score but Park gained a two-wicket win off the third ball of the final over. P Richardson had earlier taken 3-38 for the winners.

Driffield, batting first at Dring-houses in a game reduced to 39 overs, reached 178-8 through Matt Dean (51), Chris Chapman (32) and Andy Morfitt (40), who all made runs despite the efforts of Alistair Darnell (5-67).

John Crowe responded with 66 and Andy Kenyon made an unbeaten 31 but Chris Smith's 3-46 helped hold the hosts to 166-5.

Leaders Carlton Towers' home game against Ripon had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. The match between Goole Town and Stillington suffered a similar fate.
