THE most thrilling finish in division four came at Huby where Bolton Percy gained a one-wicket win when their last man hit the final two balls for six.

Huby took tea in comfort after making 200-9 through Tom Piercy (59), father Colin (26) and Paul Moore (43). Bolton's M Worrell claimed 4-78.

In reply, Alistair Rigby made 59, Peter Houseman 41 and Mark Butler 33 but Paul Moore's 5-69 gave Huby the advantage.

However, Worrell had different ideas when he cracked the penulti-mate delivery for six to leave two required off the final ball. He lifted that for another six over the head of Tom Piercy, who had come in off the boundary to prevent a two.

Pickering stayed top of the table by 30 points despite being denied victory by Selby's last pair. This was because second-placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge were also thwarted by rearguard action at Huntington.

Pickering gained their customary five batting points when they reached 217-4 thanks to Andy Hill (82no), Richard Wardle (60) and Robert Aconley senior (47).

Malcolm Bowden (33) was the only batsman to figure for Selby, as Andrew Grayson (4-30) and Tony Evan (3-33) had them struggling to a draw at 132-9.

Dave Ellis made 70 and Craig Hunter 44 not out for Sheriff Hutton Bridge, who reached 150-4 at Huntington, whose Steve Beales (3-80) has still to recapture his golden form from last year.

Beales then saw his batsmen flounder as ex-Huntington player Dave Houldridge claimed 4-35. Richard Coverdale supported with 2-16 but a defiant 44 from Len Watson saw Huntington creep to 70-6.

Dringhouses lie bottom after their modest 115-5 in 42 overs was eclipsed by Acomb, mainly due to Nathan Weatherstone's 64 not out.

John Futter hit 30 for the losers, while team-mate Dave Todd took 4-45 to cause problems before the hosts emerged as winners at 118-5.

Twenty wickets fell at Osbaldwick where the home bowlers defended a score of 142 by dismissing Sheriff Hutton for 117.

Colin Sanctuary made 26 and Phil Hall 24 in Osbaldwick's modest total against Richard Armitage (4-34) and Tony Hull (3-19).

Armitage then made 44 as Sheriff reached 79-3. Eddie Hull added 40 but the other nine batsmen only mustered 22 between them as Chris Oldfield took 3-21 and they collapsed to 117 all out.

Easingwold v Dunnington was a victim of the weather.
