MAN of the moment Terry Dolan basked in the glory after picking up his manager of the month award but insisted on sharing the limelight.

"I'm delighted and very proud," said the York City boss after being presented with his Nationwide League bubbly to mark his August award.

"It is a reward for a team effort and the way the players have applied themselves in the last month has been excellent. It has given us the good start we have all wanted."

City are currently second to Hartlepool in the Division Three table after a run of four wins, a draw and just one defeat in their opening six games.

City have also rattled in 12 goals with Peter Duffield leading the goalscoring charts and threatening to rewrite the club's record books with his run of six in six.

Dolan, who received his award at the Blue Bicycle restaurant in Fossgate, York, insisted he was unperturbed by the so-called jinx that goes with it.

Footballing folklore suggests its winners normally have to endure their team losing their next game.

"All that superstition went out the window years ago," said Dolan.

Dolan, who was besieged by television cameras at yesterday's presentation, said he was glad to be in the headlines for all the right reasons.

"It's the right kind of attention to have," he admitted.

"During the first game of the season at Macclesfield we were 1-0 down with five minutes of injury time gone and one or two fans were calling for my head.

"When you get an award like this you have got to make the most of it and enjoy it. I just hope the supporters are enjoying it as much as we are."
