Is Eighties' nostalgia a good or bad thing? Sheffield's Def Leppard produced some great stuff back then, and this is a great album for remembering those days.
But it's probably not going to win them many new fans. There is a hint of the Photograph era, lots of Hysteria mixed in, a touch of Slang and a bit of Enuff Z Nuff, Bon Jovi and Magnum. Nearly every track reminds me of another old record. The single, Now, is decent and modern in the Nickelback vein, but it's the best track on the album, followed closely by Gravity. Boy band meets grunge - a horrible image, I know, but it works. There's nothing new here, a distinct lack of riffage and, sadly, X doesn't mark the spot on this occasion.
