AGE doesn't mellow Chumbawamba. Having stumbled unexpectedly into the limelight with Tubthumping, these Leeds politicos have happily gone on ploughing their own furrow.
This time, a few break beats are added to their sound - though that more often leaves them sounding like OMD than the Chemical Brothers. More importantly, the band still tackles the injustices of life or failed revolutions - be it the 1999 shooting in London of Harry Stanley by police who mistook a chair leg for a shotgun, why Len Shackleton wasn't picked to play football for England or the Peasants Revolt of 1381.The music's not as powerful as the message, and there's little here that will be chartbound - but then the mainstream is not for Chumbawamba.
