I WELCOME the green light given by the city council for the development of the Hull-York medical school last week.
This is a positive step that will allow York to maintain its identity as a key academic centre in the North of England.
The medical school will also support economic development in the city as well as producing a crop of new doctors by 2008.
This sort of development is crucial to the future prosperity of York and the North Yorkshire region.
