THIS beautifully-filmed intricate murder mystery is based on the play Speaking In Tongues by Andrew Bovell.
Psychiatrist Valerie Somers (Barbara Hershey) has never recovered from the death of her young daughter, and tries to exorcise her demons by writing a book about her traumatic experience.
Her husband, John (Geoffrey Rush), is equally afraid of facing the terrible reality of their lives.
Valerie suspects John is having an affair with one of her clients, a gay man (Peter Phelps) who talks longingly about his married lover.
When the psychiatrist disappears mysteriously in the middle of the night, cop Leon Zat (Anthony LaPaglia) is assigned to the case, and John is named the prime suspect.
However, a witness reports seeing Valerie's neighbour Nik D'Amato (Vince Colosimo) throwing a woman's shoe away, sparking Zat's curiosity.
