Well, the less said about my race last weekend the better. I think it would be more appropriate to talk about Sunday's raceday at York, which is likely to be much more successful.

The meeting will be the third annual Evening Press Sunday Raceday York, the first having set a winning precedent for Sunday racing on Knavesmire.

It has been marketed as fun day for all the family and the last two have seen bumper crowds having a great time.

As most of you would probably guess, the meeting is sponsored not by yours truly but by the award-winning newspaper from which I took my name. However, because of my contacts there, I can still reveal that there will be a whole host of activities for people of all ages, in addition to the action on the track.

As regards my taking part in the day, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is I won't be racing, as there are no suitable races following my efforts at Ripon last Saturday.

The good news is I might still be there. Although nothing is yet confirmed, it is hoped that I will be able to take part in a parade of horses, which will take place on the track between the first and second races.

If I'm there, it should give some of you the chance to put a face behind the voice, so to speak.

Of course, I don't think I will be allowed to actually talk to any of you because I have an exclusive deal with the Evening Press Sportsdesk to talk to them. But I can still nod and smile if you say hello.

Regards,

Evening Press.

PS. Sunday's meeting is likely to attract a massive crowd so all of you who are going should get there early to beat the rush. The first race is at 2pm.
