BARRY Noble and Anita Adams are the new York John Smith's Mixed League mixed pairs champions.

Compared with the high-scoring and exciting semi-finals, the final was a pedestrian affair for the Golden Slipper duo.

However, enough was done to beat Dave Mason-Lynn Thompson (Cygnet) 2-1, semi-final victors over Leeman's Dean-Toni Smallwood.

Noble-Adams brilliantly won a 14-ton-plus encounter with Chris Bullen-Sue Claydon, representing Three Tuns.

Noble threw two 180s in nine tons-plus when partnering Lynn Thompson to victory against Pete Leake-Joan Hunter in the blind-draw mixed pairs semi, but met his match in the final in Dave O'Hara-Angie Hields, 2-0 winners against Kev O'Hara-Doreen Johnstone.

Tracey Farmeary (Huntington) took the women's individual with a 23-dart decider over Cue Ball's Michelle Britton and Noble captured the men's title with 19, then 23 darts, against Mason, a 19-dart winner against Rich Plummer (Huntington).

Noble took only 21 and 17 semi-final darts to eliminate Cygnet's Mark Hartley.

Sun Inn 'A' finished the York John Smith's Men's League programme with a stylish 7-2 win at Trafalgar.

Tony Cooper hit three tons-plus then a 117 finish for 18 darts, Bill Hopcutt checked 116 and Chris Thompson gamed in 19 darts.

Trafalgar had Paul Keers out in 21.

Competition finals are being held tonight at Holgate WMC (7.45).

Shepherd SC commanded both divisions and it's 'A' versus 'B' for the team championship, while Ray McInally bids to retain the individual title.

Chris Thompson (Sun) plays Dave Gibbons (Shepherd) for the Captain's Cup and goes with Tony Cooper to defend the pairs title.

Opponents are Kelvin Frankel-Paul Keers (Trafalgar), Andy King-Steve Swithenbank (Saddle) and Mark Hartley-Jack White (Cygnet).

Bay Horse 'A' are York Atlas Auto Services League division one champions after a 5-4 victory over Volunteer.

Clifton 'A' had a narrow 5-4 win at Cygnet, whose Tony Noble was in outstanding 17-dart form. Clifton's best came from Martin Hagan (20), who then partnered Martyn Turner to seal the win and earn the runners-up spot.

Slipper moved into third place following a comprehensive 7-2 win against Huntington.

Pete Turnbull wrapped up the win within the singles with an 18-darter and his best support was Russ Turpin.

In division two Crescent 'A' took a huge step towards the title with a 7-2 victory at Reindeer.

John Pickering closed in 20 darts and was backed by good scoring by both Mick Powell and Steve Richardson.

John Quantock notched a maximum as Six Bells beat Crescent 'B', while a splendid 8-1 by Ebor saw Dave Loftus throw a 180. Clifton 'C' team's Mark Robertson prevented the whitewash.

Woolpack took all the pairs to seal a 5-4 win, however good scores from Roger Pirrie saved Leeman the aggregate.

Fulford Arms came from behind to beat Burton 'A' 5-4.
