LEADING the line for Bury against York City tonight will be former York schoolboy Pawel Abbott.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Gigg Lane from First Division Preston North End. So fare he has scored twice in Bury's solid start back in Division Three.

Abbott is a Polish Under-21s international and, as reported in the Evening Press, spent a period on trial at Premiership Middlesbrough last year.

He failed to land a contract at the Riverside but did enough at Deepdale to persuade former Preston boss David Moyes to pay his Polish club, FC LKS Lodz, around £150,000 for him.

Abbott lived in York until he was 11, going to Our Lady's RC Primary School in Acomb before his family moved to Poland.

Bury boss Andy Preece meanwhile believes there is more to come from his Shakers, despite two wins and two draws in the last four games.

Boston denied them all three points with a last-gasp leveller at York Street last Saturday while Preece, pictured above, also feels his side should have won at Hull when they also had to settle for a draw.

The Gigg Lane player-manager said: "Although we're unbeaten for four games and people will think it's not bad, things are still not right.

"Hopefully, when we click I can see us doing something very special.

"We have to wake up to the fact that we are one of the better teams in this league and that's not me looking through rose-tinted glasses.

"We just need to find a bit more hunger to finish the opposition off, but we aren't in a bad position and can move on provided we take maximum points when we play well."

Preece is expected to name an unchanged side tonight, although midfielder George Clegg could return to the squad after a hamstring injury ruled him out against Boston.
