FOR 150 years, people have continued to flush the lavatory while the train is in the station.
High speed trains (and express coaches) now have retention tanks. Local trains do not - as that stuff strewn along the tracks at York station will remind you.
There must be a health risk, so are the railway authorities blind? If they expect us to be able to read their nice-but-dim new departure screens surely they can't expect us to overlook the swathes of filth lying on their track?
