YOU'VE had one band fold on you, you owe more than £1m and you're signing on the dole... what next?
For Cormac Battle, the answer was forming Wilt. And thank God for that. The band previously known as Kerbdog has finally evolved. Their debut album in 2000 was promising, but just didn't have that vital spark to set things rolling.
Step forward My Medicine. Guitar-fuelled rock music of this calibre is enough to set the touchstones rolling - here's a little REM, here's a lot of Bob Mould and Sugar. Battle and his comrades, however, have their own touch of magic to bring to the party, not least in the considered, thoughtful lyrics.
This is the best there's been from Battle, a sound finally fully formed and demanding to be noticed. Here's hoping it gets the attention it deserves.
