NORTH Yorkshire golf duo Simon Dyson and Emma Duggleby were striving to peg back the leaders of their respective tournaments today.
Dyson hit a commendable two-under-par 70 on the opening day of the Linde German Masters tournament, where a fine finish was the highlight for Dyson.
Birdies on the seventh and 13th holes were wiped out by dropped shots at the tenth and 14th, but Dyson rallied strongly to birdie two out of the final three holes to leave him six shots off the outright first day leader, Australia's Stephen Leaney, whose 64 was one shot off the course record.
Duggleby, who also hails from the same Malton and Norton GC as Dyson, was battling to get back into contention in the British Ladies' Open Amateur Championship at Hunstanton.
The reigning Yorkshire champion carded a second round 76, which, added to her opening day 73, put her seven shots off the pace set by fellow Curtis Cup player Kerry Smith as they went into today's final 36 holes.
Sara Garbutt (Ganton GC) is on 151 (72 79) with Scarborough South Cliff's Naomi Edwards on 152 (73 79).
