GET your pencils out, because your artwork could well be the new emblem of York City Knights RLFC.

In keeping with the club's desire to be community orientated, club bosses are letting the public have their go at designing the new club's logo - and the entry deemed to be the best will be adopted by the club.

This competition, following on from the one to find a name for the new club, is being run in conjunction with the Evening Press.

It is aimed primarily at youngsters - and it is hoped schools will get involved - yet anyone of any age or ability can enter.

The best entry could become York City Knights' new logo or be professionally adapted and/or modified to be the club's new logo, while the winner will receive a new replica shirt.

The logo designs must incorporate the word 'Knights' or an image of a Knight and be appropriate to be used as a crest to go on team badges and club merchandise.

All entries must be posted to the Sportsdesk, York Evening Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN, and they will be forwarded to the club.

The closing date for all entries is Saturday, September 28. All usual Evening Press competition rules apply.

Meanwhile, special mention must go to Evening Press reader P Wilkins, who was one of the many people to enter the York RL name competition this week.

Not only did he suggest a name, he also designed a club logo (pictured left) and potential kit designs. Although he didn't win - his name suggestion was 'City of York Highwaymen' - his entry was highly commended.
