Lucas Radebe believes Leeds can make a bold bid for the Premiership title after successive victories over Newcastle and Manchester United.

The veteran South African defender replaced the injured Dominic Matteo at the start of the second half and helped the outstanding Jonathan Woodgate keep his side's second successive clean sheet as Leeds defeated Manchester United for the first time in five years on Saturday.

Radebe said: "The win over Manchester United showed what we could do. It showed that if we believe in ourselves and play the way the gaffer (Terry Venables) wants us to play we will do better, gain in confidence and get more good results.

"We can compete for the main prize. We have players who can go after the Premiership and be there with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal."

Leeds' reserves play their second home game of the season tonight, against Sheffield Wednesday at Belle Vue, Wakefield (7pm). Michael Bridges is expected to play. Teddy Lucic, the Swedish international defender on loan from AIK, has picked up an injury during his first week of training.
